No Place Like Home

POP UP: Assemblage

30 Lonsdale St Braddon, ACT 2612

6 July – 12 July 2015

Gemma Bonshek Kane

No Place Like Home is a pop up exhibition by ceramic artist Gemma Bonshek Kane that is supported by the Assemblage Project as part of the Australian Ceramics Triennale in Canberra from the 9th to the 11th of July 2015. Bonshek Kane's "No Place Like - Series 2" captures the intrinsic connection between people, place, and memory within our own physiology. Bonshek Kane questions how places we identify with become part of us, the outside existing within, sometimes long after those places are gone. Bonshek Kane’s work draws inspiration from her immigrant childhood, the loss of her Polish heritage, and her many moves between Australian cities as both a child and an adult. “No Place Like – Series 2” speaks to the connection between people, homeland's and generations that lasts much longer than any built form.
