Clay's Anatomy: Sculpted, Scanned, Screened

Fiona Fell’s artistic production as a ceramist and sculptor has increasingly incorporated hospital scanning and motion-picture technology to blur the traditional boundaries between self and other, subject and object, body and artwork, thus creating new spaces of embodiment. Questioning the nature of matter is an intuitive as well as logical step after her career in the field of ceramic sculpture, and recasts the perception of what the ‘traditional medium’ of ceramics may have to offer in an epoch in which the universe of art is becoming increasingly intangible, supported as well as inspired by virtual technology.
