Opportunities for Artists in Arita Japan

Panel discussion

Saturday, 11 July 2015 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Panellists: Vipoo Srivilasa, Kirsten Coelho, Kenji Uranishi

There is a rich ceramic history in Arita, Japan - over 400 years of porcelain production. Arita has the potential to provide exciting new possibilities for artists who are in search of new techniques and technologies for their practice and or are interested in working collaboratively with highly skilled artisans/craftspeople in the area of porcelain production and manufacture. Already companies in Arita have collaborated with designers from Europe and Australia to very great success.

In the last twelve months Kenji Uranishi, Vipoo Srivilasa and Kirsten Coelho have all separately been on residency in Arita and they will speak of their recent experiences of working there.
