How can you make money by going into the ceramic profession? The most obvious is teaching from secondary up through college, university programs somewhere. Hoping that tenure will be granted and thus career stability. One can find a job in ceramic material and equipment suppliers, either as sales personal, worker bee, material and glaze analysts or whatever. One can find a position as a product designer, work in sales, or on the production end of the casting and making of molds and forms. Perhaps in the lab. Ceramic engineering field. Use ceramics as one’s hobby and get a real job outside the ceramic field. Marry a rich partner who can afford one’s hobby seriously. Or work for yourself as a ceramist/potter. After 57 years in ceramics, Fred Olsen will provide pointers to succeed as a ceramist/potter.
