Venue: ANU, School of Art Ceramic Workshop, 2 Childers St, Acton ACT 2601
Friday, 10 July 2015 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Cathy Franzi will demonstrate how she creates ceramic vessels that evoke a botanical perspective on natural places. Using a printmaking approach to composition, she will show how she represents Australian plants through texture using sgraffito, ink inlay and carving. She will make sgraffito tools that can be used to achieve a range of mark making and explain the use of materials such as satin engobe and found clay to form contrast. Porcelain vessels, including nesting forms and altered ovals will be made on the wheel and she will talk about how she undertakes research into a specific environment when making a body of work.
