Awaken the Dragon

Awaken the Dragon is a community art project surrounding the last two remaining Dragon Kilns in Singapore. Co-produced by Post-Museum and Michelle Lim, the project started in 2012. Its aim was to invite members of the public to participate in making a collective sculpture made from clay and fired in the Dragon Kiln, thereby raising awareness of the heritage of ceramics in Singapore. It was also during this period that the land where the last two remaining dragon kilns lie were slated for other purposes.

The talk will share how the project has reached over 6000 people, and how by pulling together various communities and using their hands, they have managed to ‘save’ the dragons and revived a seldom known part of the city.
