Social responsibility carries a sense of obligation and Sandra Bowkett will discuss how she works responsibly in her near and far ceramic communities and the mutual rewards. Over the last 12 years Sandra has facilitated opportunities for ceramic experiences that connect Rajasthani traditional potters from Kumhaargram India with the Australian community.
To those in Kumhaargram, a village of 700 pottery families, meaningful collaborative projects have been beneficial materially as well as affirming the value of the artisan. In Australia, projects have provided a unique introduction to the ceramic process for the young and an evocative cross-cultural experience to the initiated.
